Growing Interest in European Modules Confirms Sonnenstromfabrik's Strategy

Expansion of Co-operation with Oxford PV for Perovskite Modules

Sonnenstromfabrik (CS Wismar GmbH), one of Europe's most modern manufacturers of high-quality photovoltaic modules, is drawing a positive conclusion from this year's Intersolar trade fair in Munich. "A returning and growing interest in European-produced solar modules is clearly noticeable. While demand is still significantly lower than in previous years due to high stock levels across all stages of trade, the in-roof and low-carbon markets, in particular, are stabilising overall," summarises Managing Director Rüdiger Drewes.

Looking ahead, Sonnenstromfabrik remains committed to maintaining the highest production quality at its Wismar-based plant, providing local customer service, and ensuring fast delivery times.

Collaboration with research institutes and industry partners has been a key aspect of their innovative product strategy for many years. An example of this is the Perovskite PV modules, produced in a collaborative project with Oxford PV. As one of the last German manufacturers of solar modules, the partnership with the cell factory producing in Brandenburg offers a unique opportunity to re-establish the European product supply chain with the highest performance standards locally. The fact that Sonnenstromfabrik was one of the last German producers to have its own stand at Intersolar highlights the need to reduce dependency on foreign manufacturers and suppliers.

By the end of this year, Sonnenstromfabrik will also launch new module types which, like their previous product series, represent mature and long-lasting technologies. Rüdiger Drewes comments: "We are closely monitoring the performance and long-term stability of the individual cell technologies to ensure a constant supply of efficient modules in the long term." The new products will be announced no later than the fourth quarter of 2024.

The production of PV modules began at the Wismar site back in 2002, and CS Wismar GmbH has been producing there with a capacity of 700 MW per year since 2016 under its own brand Sonnenstromfabrik, as well as for OEM customers who wish to have their production based in Germany.

About Sonnenstromfabrik
Sonnenstromfabrik (CS Wismar GmbH) is one of the most modern and qualitatively leading manufacturers of photovoltaic modules in Europe. The module factory in Wismar in northern Germany has established itself as a quality leader. Today, Sonnenstromfabrik has the most extensive portfolio of glass/glass modules in the industry and produces solar panels under its own brand name as well as on behalf of other solar manufacturers. The origins of the production facility in Wismar go back some 25 years. Sonnenstromfabrik also consistently focuses on quality, design and performance when it comes to glass/foil modules. Special modules, off-grid modules and roof-integrated modules add to the Sonnenstromfabrik portfolio. As the first company in the industry, Sonnenstromfabrik has consistently redefined the topic of sustainability and optimized and certified production processes for minimal CO2 emissions. Compared to conventional solar modules, the products of the Sonnenstromfabrik convince, among other things, by a significantly longer service life and high efficiency.
